Birdsfoot was designed by Ault, Clark & Associates, is located 45 minutes northeast of downtown Pittsburgh, and opened in 2000. The course is completely isolated in the rolling hills, without of any houses or development. The front nine is relatively wide open, few trees that impact the layout, while the back side plays through fairways framed by heavy stands of trees. Good elevation change, providing varied lies, fast greens, plenty of bunkers. Named for a flowering ground cover, birdsfoot trefoil, that's all over the course. Some nice holes that go around lakes, holes that traverse a ravine, holes with fairways that wind through trees and holes with a tree in the fairway, and some great par 3's. It's a challenging and enjoyable mix. 7044 yards from the black tees, 74.4 handicap, and 137 slope.
