A true links course, southeast of Edinburgh, just over the England border. The club originated in 1889, designed by 5 time Open Champion James Braid. It measures only 6294 yards from the regular markets, par 72 with a couple of reachable par 5s, and a 263 yard par four that can be driven if the wind is cooperating. The holes are routed along the sandhills, the fairways are undulating and tumbling, bordered by roughs of heather, playing to medium sized, somewhat crowned greens, strategically guarded by bunkers throughout. An enjoyable experience, close to Edinburgh, and reasonably priced.
