Ben Geren is on the east side of Ft. Smith, just south of the airport, off I-540 at exit 11, then east a mile. There's three nine hole tracks here, the Silo, which is the newer side here, and is more open and links-like, and more hilly than the Magnolia or Willow course. They're more parkland style with scattered tree lined fairways, water in play on a few holes, and good sized greens. The layouts were designed by Marvin Ferguson and Jeff Brauer with the Willow course at 3,552 yards, Magnolia 3,380 yards, and Silo, 3,460 yards, all from the back tees. Muni style play with low rates, not in top notch condition, heavy play, but one of the better courses in the area.

I walked on as a single for the twilight rate and was able to tee off immediately without be partnered with anyone. The pace was a bit slow due to several walkers on the course but if you're playing alone you should be prepared to wait a bit so no complaint. Very good layout with several risk/reward holes which could be played safely by the novice. The staff was friendly and the greens were outstanding. i did notice a few rough spots but the pin placement was such that they did not come into play. Overall a good course with good rates which I intend to play again and again.
