Belle Terre Country Club is about 30 minutes west of downtown New Orleans, 10 minutes west of the airport, just off I-10 at the Belle Terre exit in LaPlace. The golf course is a Pete Dye layout through a reclaimed bayou that became a housing development with plenty of water in play. It's one of Dye's earlier courses, designed in the mid-1970's as part of the development, and is a fun and challenging course to play. It's 6,840 from the tips, we play from the middle tees, which play to 6,320 yards, 69.2/125, and it plays more difficult than the ratings suggest. Course management is the key to scoring well here, along with a good short game, bring plenty of extra balls! Conditions have been a problem over the years, but seem to have improved considerably. Rates are reasonable, there's a good restaurant in the clubhouse for a post round lunch.
