Bass River is in South Yarmouth, on the Bass River, just off the Mid Cape Highway. Just a good old, classic course by Donald Ross from the early 1900's. Classic parkland style of course with a hilly front nine closer to the water, the back nine longer and more linkstyle. Small and perched greens, well conditioned overall, expensive in the summer, but the aren't a lot of other good options. It's a muni, operated by the Town of Yarmouth, definitely challenging with its tight fairways, but with great views out over the Bass River.

This is a course with mixed blessings. Wide fairways are forgiving, but several holes hug the water and can prove to be challenging especially in a strong wind. A couple of blind holes where the pin is hidden make it difficult for the first time visitor. It's a good idea to study the course first before playing.
