Tom Lehman and Casey O'Callaghan design of 7000 yards, 134 slope from the tips in Mission Viejo, just off the San Diego freeway north of San Juan Capistrano. It's a well maintained course mostly, and the routing is interesting and challenging with good elevation change up, over, and through canyon wash areas. The course and the holes are somewhat isolated, unusual for Orange County, with a lot of variety and character to the holes. The fairways are bordered by the natural vegetation and fescue grasses for a nice contrast. It's fairly difficult, especially off the tee on a few holes where the landing areas are pinched. The greens are large, hard, moderately fast. Conditions are an issue at times here lately, but overall for the rate, a good value for the area.

This is my home course. For Orange County, this is the best value for the money. Interesting layout with some variation - long par 3's short par 4s, elevation changes, etc. It really does feel like you are out in Riverside and not in the middle of Mission Viejo because there are no houses on the course it feels isolated. The fairways are tighter than most in California, but I don't see this as a significant draw-back. It opens some shots into greens that you normally couldn't play - the bump and run! The greens are usually in good shape, the fairways are wide, but you will lose 9 balls out of 10 if you don't hit the fairways. Staff here is very helpful, food in the bar is fantastic, and first beer is 1 cent for every shot of your round. All in all a good golf course for a great value.

Top-notch course in superb condition. Our high handicappers even loved it despite their high scores reflecting the challenge of the course. The rangers were helpful in recommending the proper tees from which to play after observing our groups for a few holes. The pro shop staff and starter were very friendly.
