Owned and operated by the Wheaton Park District, the course originally opened in the 1920's, then a third nine was opened in the 1960's, the South and West courses have been updated with their design by Ken Killian recently, and are all completely golf, no houses in play. It's bentgrass from tee to green, water's in play on 17 or the 27 holes, and it's moderately well bunkered. Very nice parkland style layouts, I personally favor the South and West courses. Always in very good condition, but gets a lot of play and is sometimes slow, but then again the rates are low. It's out in the western suburb of Wheaton, on Butterfield Road between Naperville and Winfield Roads. Good restaurant and sports bar in the clubhouse, fancy looking from the outside, but very functional and laid back. All three combinations of 18 holes play around 6700 yards from the tips, 131 slope, all the holes are straightforward out and back layout, tree lined fairways, not really forgiving off the tee.

Easily the best muni I've every played, even had excellent conditions, the pace of play was under 4 1/2 hours, it felt like an upscale experience, even the clubhouse. Hats off to Wheaton for the way they run this course!
