Arizona Grand is south of Phoenix at the South Mountain, I-10 and Baseline. It's a full resort and conference center with a golf course that's routed through a residential community. Used to be the Phantom Horse, and before that I believe it was the Hilton, but they've renamed it and the hotel and spent some money upgrading the course and facilities. The course is short at 6,300 yards from the back tees, par 71, but is challenging. It winds through a state park preserve, the front 9 is classic golf with wide fairways and some water, while the back more target, desert course. Not a long course, but many opportunities to get into trouble. One a few of the tees, there's great views of practically every mountain range in the Valley, Sun Devil Stadium and Downtown Phoenix, and on a clear day you can see all the way to the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. Have played it many times over the years and like what they've done with the redesign. The course is in very good condition, and rates are fair, just not convenient to the Scottsdale area if you're staying there.
