From the onset you know that this isn’t going to be like most rounds of golf in Northern Michigan, you could be in Ireland or Scotland. The course was designed by Rick Smith, plays to 7300 yards, 143 slope from the tips, and is spectacular. It's routed over 245 acres of rolling land along 3,100 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline with 50 sod-walled bunkers, with wide fairways bordered by native tall grasses. The greens are good sized, and are impacted heavily by the slope of the land, in addition to the undulations. It's a beautiful setting for a golf course, especially I would imagine in good weather. The day we were here, a fog bank was rolling in off the lake, which was cool to watch, until it enveloped us. The tees, greens, and fairways are bentgrass, with the fairways carved through the rolling sand dunes of the land. It is located a few miles south of Crystal Downs.on the same type of property. There's no water hazards on the course, and the fescues, bunkers and grass chipping areas around the greens gives the feel of a true links course, if it wasn't Lake Michigan, it could be the Irish Sea. There's good elevation changes throughout, playing to holes with the background being the Lake, gives each hole its own unique setting on land that was barely touched in the design. A classic and true gem, must be played.

Arcadia Bluffs is a beautiful course with awesome views of Lake Michigan. The elevation changes, dunes, high-rough and undulating, fast greens make this a very challenging course. I don't think there is a straight putt on any of the greens. Practice facilities are very nice. Food in the restaurant was great. Staff for the most part was very nice and accommodating.

My favorite course anywhere. I played twilight in August which is after 2pm for $110. Peak time it is $180. It is across lake Michigan from Whistling Straits. Pretty similar course, but a bit nicer for a better price. It's by far the #1 course in Michigan.

Arcadia Bluffs is beautiful - the panorama of the golf course (contrasts of greens and browns) and the lake is spectacular. And tee to green I believe it's a great test - but as far as I'm concerned the greens are completely over the top - especially when you factor in the wind.

After a night of rain the course was empty for a morning tee time. Spectacular views of fog banks and clouds rolling of Lake Michigan. The 12th hole along the Lake is incredible. The course itself was in great shape, and worth the trek to northern Michigan to play. Stunning holes, great conditions, worth it to splurge here.

Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course review at Forelinksters We played in the early afternoon, teeing off around 1, so we had plenty of time beforehand to peruse the golf shop, also had time for lunch, and it was definitely a few steps above most clubhouse fare. The first few holes start off “simple” enough, and by simple, I mean that you’re not distracted by the views of Lake Michigan (yet). From the onset you know that this isn’t going to be like most rounds of golf in Northern Michigan. The bunkering is a dead giveaway that this round is going to be something special. By the time you get to the third tee, you can see a lot of the golf course, and Lake Michigan, and the anticipation sets in. There’s no feeling quite like being on the first couple holes of a golf course, and seeing all the wonderful terrain to come. Experiencing anticipation like this is what it’s all about to me. I started the course par, par, and then birdie on the 3rd (stuck a wedge very close) to be one under after 3. Then I started thinking about how well I was doing, and it started to unravel, but mercifully, slowly. The 10th has a massive, deep bunker in front of the green that is tough to miss (well, at least for me). It reminded me of some of the bunkers at Whistling Straits, where we honeymooned. Calls for a special shot, so be prepared to hit flops out of sand. The 11th, a 563 yard downhill par 5 is easily the best hole on the course. You work your way downhill towards the Lake, and the views up and down the hole are fantastic. The 13th is one of those par 3’s that you don’t soon forget either. All carry, into the wind. Take a few extra clubs, but beware there’s a “secret” bunker behind the green that I wasn’t prepared for that you can’t see from the tee. You definitely don’t want to be short, because you’ll be OB, but don’t be long either. As we worked our way through the remainder of the course, the fog was 90% gone, and it provided great views of Lake Michigan, the clubhouse, and the rest of the golf course. The finishing hole is a strong one; your drive is downhill, but approach is uphill. This type of hole makes for a great photo opportunity too. The prices are not for the faint of heart, and are not anywhere near what the other area golf courses are charging, but that being said, it is a once in a lifetime experience you won’t want to miss out on. I would easily suggest this course to anyone who wants to “experience” golf, rather than just play it.
