Apple Valley is part of the Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure. The course is set in a valley area and was designed by Dan Maples, playing to 6756 yards from the championship tees, 140 slope, 73.2 course rating, and is just a beautiful mountain, parkland style course with hilly fairways. Mostly tree lined fairways, water on a number of holes, and the occasional blind shot. Greens are interesting, challenging, and generally quick. Local knowledge helps in playing this course, you will play better the second time.

Very scenic course. Lots of memorable holes. The course was also empty, we felt like we were the only ones on the course. Staff was extreme. Great day of golf.
