Angus Glen Golf Club is in northern Toronto suburbs off the 407 or the 404. It has been home to the TPGA Tour's Bell Canadian Open on the South Course in 2002, and the North Course in 2007. The South Course at 7400 yards from the back tees, is routed over rolling hills and valleys along wetlands, and well guarded at the landing areas and around the greens by over 100 bunkers with water in play on 10 holes. The North Course, at 7300 yards from the tips, is more open, with fairways and greens guarded by the deep sod faced bunkers, lined by tall fescue so often found in Scotland, and is generally a tough and long course where accuracy and length are rewarded, but not on their own. Quite frankly, neither course is for the mid teen handicapper and below, any recreational golfer will not enjoy the golf course here. The North Course provides significant challenge, especially when it's windy, and always on the holes 9 through 15 while the initial 8 holes provide an opportunity to get off to a good start, and to create some positive momentum going to the backside. The courses were designed by Doug Carrick for the South and Jay Morrish, on the North. The service is superb, as are the practice facilities and the conditioning. Take time to wander around the fantastic clubhouse and see the old photos of the thoroughbreds that were once raised on the land here. A wonderful experience, tip top shape and service, and a chance to play where the pros play.
