Altorreal is located in foothills close to the town of Molina de Segura and only a 9km drive North West from Murcia, a couple of miles east of the A-30. It's about an hour from Alicante and San Javier airports. The golf course is routed through a residential community in the foothills, and has some elevation change to it. It was reasonably priced to play at €70. The layout was designed by Dave Thomas with both nines finishing at the clubhouse. From the back tees it's par 72 of 6,239 metres (6,863 yards), and 6,036 metres (6,640 yards) from the yellow tees. It's a definite risk/reward type of layout where there were ample chances for a birdie, or a double bogey. The greens were big, undulating, and fast, sloping with the lay of the land and were difficult to putt, but in good shape. The course was well bunkered, and there's water on half-dozen holes. The par threes weren't all that long, but very well protected with smaller, contoured greens. The golf course is probably walkable, but we took a buggy. Nicely conditioned, with good views out over the area, reasonably priced fees, good clubhouse facilities.

This is one of the best golf courses in the area. It can provide a different challenge each time you play it. The course is well maintained. From the golf standpoint, the course is fair and will allow you to make the best of your situation. If putting is your strong point, you will enjoy the blazing speed the greens. This is a golf course, not a place to come and watch the scenery develop in the spring. .
