Agate Beach Golf Course is just a few miles north of Newport, a 9 iron from the beach. The course loops among windswept evergreens in a forgiving, mostly flat 9-hole layout. It's an old layout from the 1930's, big hitters have a couple of drivable par-fives playing at 501 yards and 448 yards from the blues, plus two great par-threes. Fun and playable course at 2,905 yards from the back tees, 69.4/109 course/slope with a par of 36. Enjoyable to play but the fairways were a little dry, although the greens were in very nice shape, scenic course, easy to walk, and can get fairly windy at times just off the Pacific.
